1) Chapter 4VAC20-252-et seq. "Pertaining to the Taking of Striped Bass".
The Commission proposes to modify the recreational striped bass size and possession limit, for the Chesapeake Area fall recreational striped bass fishery.
The Chesapeake Area includes the mainstem Chesapeake Bay, its tributaries and the Potomac River tributaries to Virginia.
Currently, there is a two-fish limit, an 18 inch minimum size limit, and a no-take slot limit, whereby no one may possess a striped bass between 28.0 and 34.0 inches total length. Only one of the two-fish possession limit may be greater than 34 inches total length.
The Commission proposes, for the October 4 through December 31 Chesapeake Area recreational striped bass fishery, to maintain the 18-inch minimum size limit and two-fish possession limit, but allow only one fish of the two-fish possession limit to be greater than 28.0 inches.
The purpose of the amendment is to approach or attain the 2010 Chesapeake Area quota of 1,538,022 pounds.
