The Virginia Marine Resources Commission invites public comment on proposed amendments to Regulation 4 VAC 20-490-10 ET. SEQ., "Pertaining to Sharks."
In accordance with §28.2-209 of the Code of Virginia, a public hearing on these proposals will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at the office of the Marine Resources Commission, 2600 Washington Avenue, 4th Floor, Newport News, Virginia. Any interested person may offer testimony. I. Regulation 4 VAC 20-490-10 ET. SEQ., "Pertaining to Sharks."
A) Establish a possession limit for Spiny Dogfish of up to 7,000 pounds.
B) Eliminate the finning of Spiny Dogfish.
C) Prohibit the possession of Spiny Dogfish harvested from state waters for commercial purposes after it has been announced that the Interstate quota for spiny dogfish has been taken.
D) Require all Spiny Dogfish caught from state or federal waters for commercial purposes be sold to a federally permitted dealer.
