NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that the Virginia Marine Resources Commission will consider adoption of a guideline document entitled "Draft Management Plan for the Ungranted State Lands in Accomack and Northampton Counties" (4 VAC 20-1030-10 et. seq.) as recommended by the Virginia Coastal Lands Management Advisory Council.
The management plan is being promulgated in accordance with the provisions of §28.2-1504 of the Code of Virginia. The goal of the management plan is the conservation and protection of the natural values and natural processes associated with the ungranted shores of the sea, marsh and meadowlands which have been identified in Accomack and Northampton Counties. The management plan also considers the traditional use of these properties, their potential use in the promotion of tourism and commerce, and their previous use as a commons by the people of the Commonwealth for the purposes of fishing, fowling, hunting and the taking and catching of oysters and other shellfish.
The Commission will consider the draft management plan, and any other comments from individuals interested in this matter, at a public hearing to be held at its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 23, 1999. The public hearing will be held in the main office of the Virginia Marine Resources Commission on the 4th floor at 2600 Washington Avenue, Newport News, beginning at 9:30 a.m. A copy of the draft management plan may be reviewed at either the Commission's Newport News or Eastern Shore offices, Monday through Friday, from 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
