Background:
Completed in 2006, this cooperative project with the City of Virginia Beach, totaled approximately $431,383. A grant of $36,000 was provided from the VSRFDF to assist in the improvement of the fishing pier and access walkway. Most common saltwater species may be caught in this area.
The Little Island District Park offers visitors other amenities such as paved parking, handicapped accessible restroom facilities, beach access , sheltered picnic tables with grills, and playground areas.

The Little Island Fishing Pier at Sandbridge is on the Atlantic Ocean side, just north of the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge
From Norfolk: From I-64 E, take I-264 E (Norfolk/VA Beach Expressway), take Exit#22 and turn right off ramp onto Byrd Neck Rd., turn right onto General Booth Blvd. (VA 615 S), turn left onto Princess Anne Rd (VA 615), turn left onto Sandbridge Rd., turn right to stay on Sandbridge Rd., keep going through the neighborhood until you see the park on the left.
From Suffolk: From I-64 W, take the Indian River Rd. East exit (Exit 286B) and merge onto Indian River Rd., turn a slight left onto Ferrell Pkwy., turn a slight right onto ramp and merge onto Princess Anne Rd. (VA 165 S), turn right onto Princess Anne Rd. (VA 615), turn left onto Sandbridge Rd., turn right to stay on Sandbridge Rd., keep going through the neighborhood until you see the park on the left.
Operating Hours:
5:30 am - 11:00 pm, April 15 - October 31
7:00 am - 5:00 pm, November 1 - March 31
* Pier is closed for maintenance, April 1 - 14
Fishing Pier Fee: $5 per day
(children under 9 free w/ adult)
