Background:

The Saxis fishing pier was completed in 2002.  The project received $148,141 in VSRFDF grant funds.  The pier extends 200 feet into Saxis Harbor and terminates with a 100-foot T-head.  The pier is handicapped accessible and ADA compliant.  The pier is lit and is open 24 hours a day.  There is no fee to use the pier and public parking is allowed along the seawall. However, a valid individual Saltwater Recreational Fishing License is required.  Fish such as gray trout, croaker, spot , whiting, red drum, and striped bass can be caught at this site.  It is a popular location and the location of an annual kids fishing tournament that is also funded by the VSRFDF.

Directions:

The pier is located in the Town of Saxis in Accomack County.

From N/S US Route 13 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia at Temperanceville:  Take Route 695 east toward Saxis (approximately 9 miles). Route 695 makes a sharp left as you approach the water and continues winding through the town.  The pier is located on the right-hand side about a mile into the main part of town.
